When I did a search for music education blogs, I found more information than I thought would come up. I don't know why I assumed there would be limited online communities discussing music ed; those of us in the field are generally pretty into what we're doing. It was just surprising to see how formalized it all was, broken down by content area, commented on extensively, etc. I can see myself regularly checking in with these blogs, seeing what's new in an attempt to integrate new ideas into my own curriculum.

Testing, testing...

Finally, a useful application for blogging! I'm Kris and I teach high school choir and AP music theory in a northwest suburb of Chicago. This blog is part of a grad school course on instructional design and technology, and already I can see how the applications for such concepts in the public school music program are both limitless and valuable. Our students are part of a rapidly growing group of technologically literate people, and in using their "language" to both teach them and communicate with them we can immediately reach them on a completely relevant level.

This blog is going to both chronicle my music ed grad school experience and serve as a communication tool for discussion with other music educators. Ideas, comments, and general back-and-forthery regarding music ed are both welcomed and encouraged.
